Home Again

How strange and yet so comfortable it is to come home again to the same airport, the same streets, the same car, the same house, same fat cat, and the same bedroom that I have spent most of my teenage life. Quel Bizarre!

When i first arrived home, i felt like i had never left, the only evidence of myself being away for nine months were the suitcases placed in my room! My mind did not allow me to process all the memories I created in the past year. And although i felt so at home, i felt i was gone for so much.

Burnaby mountain, crazy dance parties in my living room, many dinners and endless conservations with Jackie, Chevy, Amrita, Francesca and Diana seemed to be a fiction of my imagination.

The first week went so fast and was full of choas. Spending time with my baba, and my mama while realizing my mother was leaving two days later to take care of my grandmother and family issues in singapore, while my dad going back to work in Saudi Arabia, meant not seeing them for two more months. Which is another factor of growing up, as Lauren wonderful put, "time goes much faster now than when i was younger just because i have more things to do."

SO glad for Doctora Mai, who has been there for me through everything and im sure will continue to constantly be a stable factor of my life throughout everything.

It funny trying to re-adjust to the way of life that just is not really mine anymore. But thats the challenge of re-integration. I love that Hadia and I are developing a new goal for next summer. Much more news on that later.

New Haven

Visiting Alli in New Haven which is in the middle of nowhere except for Yale which is the most intersting thing i got to see! The campus is gorgeous, although some parts are deceiving because the design makes the school appear older than it really is, nevertheless it has a lot of character. The rare books library an architectural genius.

A similar thing to Harry Potter and how students are assigned to different houses, when they are join Yale.

So two things I have learnt while i have been here is hate crime and Lynching. Since Alli is in theater alot of her male friends are gay, and one of them was acting flamboyant and gotten beaten up for it. This is an act of hate crime which is when individuals commit acts of violence simply because they hate a person because of choice of race/sex/sexuality preference.

Also the second term i learnt is lynching which is to execute someone without a reason by hanging them from a tree. This was a popular method in the south when white people used to hang black people because of their color. So Alli was in Murtle beach this weekend, which is somewhere in the south, and was going on about how people got lynched.

Both those terms just made me realize there will always be a battle to be accepted!

Boston!

On the 8th of May! I arrived in Boston.. I was going to visit my friend Xiaomin, who the day i arrived just finished her Phd degree, which is incredible!

Boston, and Cambridge where i was staying where all the campuses are is an incredible city! I especially loved the architecture and the contrast between the really old and the really new! I didnt get to see much of the sights, just cause the weather was horrible the week i was there[Rain, Rain, Rain, Fog and more rain].

But it was great seeing old friends again, even though i am seeing Xiaomin in a couple more months, and sharing his big milestone was so interesting.
As well as seeing Sani[who was a really good friend in high school, and realize that not seeing someone for a long time, doesnt take away the fact you are still friends]. Also was interesting to get to know Hatim more and to find out what an incredible man he is becoming.

I was using an old school camera, so if there turns out to be any good photos ill scan them and post them up here!
