Snowing Again

sO.. my last post was about it snowing!! well that was nothing, on monday, it really snowed.. i walked out of one of the buildings which i had been studying in, and to my surprise big chunks of snow, so i called my friend betul(my turkish crazy friend) and we went and played in the snow... making snow balls and fighting, rollling around! it was absolutely beautiful.. made a huge snow man..

then i went home, thinking enough for me... then i changing my boots running outside to play some more.. it was crazy, absolutely beautiful.. some of us went walking in the park after, then sleding down the hill with garbage hills.. i felt soo young and free. it was beautiful...

francesca, swatti and amrata. came back to my house, where we changed to warm clothes, and had hot chocolate and dinner at 3am before watching dodgeball.. it was incredible..

Also yesterday i saw my first racoon walking around the townhouses.. it was huge, i tried running after it.. but it ran away!!

I love this, everything is white!!

Nazly, Reem and I are being as obnoxious and loud as ever, we are screaming, dancing, and laughing!! and then i realized it was really snow! always thought it fell in chunks, and it doesnt, well just small and soft and so beautiful, i expect that there will be in snow in the next coming weeks, it just starts like that.. but the next morning.. all the houses and the courtyard was full of beautiful soft snow!!

Petition Movie

Dr Mai Rostom, one of my closest friends shared this with me, and now i am sharing this with you, its worth watching its only 3 minutes long

Please take a moment to watch a moving, short film about the human cost of the Iraq war. (And then forward it to your friends.) It's a powerful reminder of the individual lives lost, and a call to take action to stop the carnage. If the pro-peace majority can grow -- and make ourselves heard -- we can end this war!

Amrica!

This weekend, i spent in the states with Nazly, Shady, and Holly!! It was soo nice to be with some egyptians, and feel like home a little. The shisha whenever i wanted, wow, what a feeling! The sad part of it all when watchin TV, and seeing how the media portrays us[Arabs, Muslims]. That really depressed me, it made me feel like we were nothing. This is the same when i read parts of the Arab Human Development report.

Even the commericials for recruiting people to join the army, encourages peopel to fight for freedom, to fight for democracy, fight for the american way. I dont know what it did, but it caused alot of emotional feelings to come out. Watching all these american news, i realized how sensationalized it is, nothing comes on without being a drama.

What was interesting was Nazly and I, were taking a cab back home to the dorms, and our cab drivers was from Eritrea. We spoke in Arabic, one thing i love about cab drivers is that give you a real insight on how the country is. He was going on about how in America no one was educated unless they were educated the american way, he also went on to say that americans who came got shitty jobs like driving cabs and so on, and he had come here to give his kids a better life. This got me thinking of the document of Al jazeera called Control Room, where the guys words will forever be engrained in my mind. One of the presenters, or someone who worked in the station, said when his children were old enough, he would put them in American Universities and encourage them to stay there, so they could experience the American Dream not the Middle East nightmare.
